Our city has a Civil War Re-enactment every year.  I am desparately trying to attain information about the proper stained glass instruments and procedures used at that time.  I am assuming a diamond cutter, probably the rosewood handled type would do.  I am also assuming Oleic Acid or Tallow for flux.  I am unsure about the iron.  I have a wooden handled iron with the copper tip at the end of a rod.  I am guessing this was appropriate for that era.  I believe that Sal Ammoniac was available then also.  I do not know what the solder was like or how the iron was heated.  When the iron is heated, what is the best way of knowing the temperature so as not to do a meltdown in front of the crowd.  I have not found a coal burner with a rheostat yet!

Suggestions and facts would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the suggestion, but my searches could not find either patents.  They said Sorry, patent number '17301' is not a valid number.  Vic, could you provide more information?
