Hello,

I've been browsing your forum but can't find exactly what I am looking for.

I am considering opening an online store selling stained glass art such as lamps, panels, fireplace screens, etc.  My idea is not to make my own stained glass but instead sell the work of others.  I am an accomplished internet marketer and my specialty is in making websites rank highly in Google search results.

I need to begin by learning about stained glass. First, basic things like, knowing if there a difference in the quality of the glass, the quality of the medium used to fuse it together (lead?), etc?   Is stained glass art sold and priced by the size, weight, time invested in the piece, or the experience of the artist making the piece?  As well as probably many other things that I don't even know that I need to know!

I don't have any knowledge or experience in the art of stained glass just a love for the look of it.

I would appreciate all advice, reccomendations, comments, and suggestions on where to start, what to look for, learning resources, etc. that you might offer.  Any ideas on where I might be able to learn what I need to know to decide if I can turn my love of this beautiful art into a business.

Kindest regards,

Leigha

there are a number of stained glass studios in and around the charleston area ... you may want to begin by contacting one of them and learning the basics of what goes into the making ... they also may be able to put you in contact with a number of artists who are looking to market their work ...hope thats a start for you
